2013 Knights Bridge Chardonnay, Pont de Chevalier
Nature blessed us with yet another extraordinary growing year in 2013. Dry, sunny weather and consistent temperatures allowed our fruit to reach optimal ripeness. We achieved wonderful concentration and complexity of flavors across all of our Estate varietals.
Select block of Chardonnay were harvested in the predawn hours of September 16, 2013. Delivered to press whole-cluster, the juice was hyper-oxidated and allowed four days to fully settle. It was then racked cleanly to 60% new French oak barrels for primary fermentation while malolactic fermentation as inhibited. The wine was aged in barrel for 12 months sur lie with bimonthly stirring.
Consider pairing this beautiful wine with Ricotta Gnocchi with Wild Mushrooms, Porcini Cream and Tarragon, or Chicken Paillard with Chunky Green Olive-Pine Nut Tapenade.
