2016 Huge Bear Merlot Sonoma County
The growing season made flattering Merlot—perfect for early drinking, yet also capable of cellaring. Our 2016 vintage shows delightful aromas of warm blackberry pie and lavender along with nuances of earth and mushrooms, reminiscent of Chanterelles and Morels sautéed in butter.
Our 2016 Huge Bear Merlot complements a wide range of cuisines, from more subtle flavors to more pronounced, due to its versatile nature. Its classic dark fruit flavors and round texture pair well with charcuterie, pastas with red sauce and roasted poultry and meats.
Produced using traditional methods, the wine was fermented in a small lot, open top fermenter and punched down three times daily for 20 days. It was barrel aged for twenty months in 75% new French oak.
