Inside Knights Bridge

The Pioneer Spirit

The Pioneer Spirit

Being in the vineyards this time of year, especially with the recent heavy (and welcome) rains, it is easy to remember that Knights Valley is probably the most remote of the Sonoma County AVAs , nestled up close to Mt. St. Helena. On days like today, it feels like we are somehow more in touch with the beauty and history of this unique place.

Quiet moments like these are good times to reflect on the debt we owe those that have come before us. They turned the area into an agricultural center, bringing prosperity to the valley and the region.  Without them, we wouldn't be here in the gray of February, in the middle of our vineyards, with spring and bud break just around the corner.  We like to think that their pioneer spirit still lives in the soil that produces the grapes that make our wine.
