Harvest approaches

With the cool year we've experienced until the past few weeks, harvest will occur a bit later than usual. Right now, we are in a hurry up and wait mode. We are spending much of our time in the vineyards, sampling the berries - checking the flavors, brix, titrable acidity and pH. We've also been re-tasting our 2009 red wines and working through some preliminary blends.

And, of course, we will spend this time preparing for harvest - making sure we have everything we need in time, such as barrels, yeast, and other equipment. It's an anticipatory time, but one filled with quite a bit of activity and anticipation.
